Komende woensdag zal Andrew Dubber tijdens Un-convention Groningen een afsluitende DJ-set draaien, onder de titel Andrew Dubber’s Dutch Music Radio Show, met daarin alleen Nederlandstalige muziek. Om hier een succes van te maken, heeft hij jouw Nederlandstalige tracks nodig. Dit is wat hij er zelf over zegt:

I don’t speak Dutch – but I do think that it’s interesting that popular music made by people who do speak Dutch is usually not IN Dutch. I think that’s a shame, and I strongly believe that because music is so closely linked to culture, that this is an asset that’s not being made the most of by bands from the Netherlands.

I’m at UnConvention Groningen this week, and so one of the things I’m doing here is a showcase of songs in Dutch, by Dutch artists I like. And of course, most of my favourite Dutch music is by artists I haven’t heard yet.

People might hear it

UnConvention Groningen is an international conference for the independent music sector, and while I’m making no promises, I’m hoping that the songs I choose to play on Thursday evening meet an appreciative and helpful audience.

There will be independent labels, broadcasters, promoters, managers and all sorts of other music business people there. I’ll play the tunes, and then talk about what I like about them.

I tend to like music that’s interesting. Not music that sounds like lots of other music I’ve heard before. Surprise me. Metal to hip hop. Ambient to indie pop. Contemporary classical to prog rock. Drum and Bass to acoustic singer-songwriter fare.

Let’s hear what you’ve got. I may not understand what you’re singing about – but that’s never stopped me liking music.
